Adulting- managing work, life and everything in between

Hey, people! How are you? I can’t believe it’s already been over a week since my last post! How has the week been for you? Did you crush your goals for the week? Good for you!!! Or are you like me, barely managing to get through each day? Don’t be discouraged, we’ll try again next week and give it our very best. Hopefully, we'll have something to smile about at the end. 😊 For me, this week has been all shades of stress- physically, emotionally, financially, and psychologically. I had high hopes of accomplishing everything on my to-do list each day, but by the end of the week, I had loads of carry-overs, and I started to feel the weight of it all. I couldn’t push out my blog post on Tuesday, and that made me feel guilty. I couldn’t attend my classes on schedule (though I wasn’t exactly heartbroken about that—ha-ha). I now have a pile of tasks on my desk that must be done by the weekend so I can start next week with a clean slate. I also missed spending extra time in my devoti...

...and Emaleecious had a great fall!

No be small thing ooo! My first comment is that people are wicked shaaaaaa!  Chai! Dia ris God oooo. This morning, I woke up but wished I could just call in sick. I didn't even want to get up from bed at all. So I did what I would do on days like this, called my mum (yep, she just has a way of making me get up from bed). We gisted for a while and she encouraged me to get up and get ready to go to work. I dropped the phone, had a bath and picked out my outfit for the day- A multi-color stripped top and a white chiffon pleated skirt. Then I looked out and noticed it had started to drizzle and it looked like a heavy rain was in the plan. I tried changing my outfit...tried 3 other outfits, but they just wouldn't do, so I picked out this Ankara dress I just had made. Between me and you, its Ankara, but I'm not telling anyone in my office that . I plan to keep smiling if they ask me what it is. Anyway, I had the liver to pick out this outfit for a Thursday because: ...

Violated

I got into the office today and saw that my space had been raided. I had heard rumours of the burglary during the Strike action, but it didn't really prepare me for what I saw. My drawer was in serious disarray, and most of the files in the cupboard had been pulled out and left out. It was more disgusting than painful. I have always known that I hate people “scattering” my things, but now I know it’s much more than that. I actually hate people touching my things without my permission. I felt violated, like someone went through all my things and now has a personal knowledge of me. I do know that my laptop bag was stolen (apparently, it was used to carry someone’s laptop- thankfully, my laptop was locked up in someone’s drawer) but that’s all I can say for now. This is not the way to start a work week at all, but I am grateful that nothing of importance was taken from me. Now my question is this, how did the burglar get past the security post without being notic...

The 30 Day Challenge: Day 4 - Bullet your whole day

Ha, now everyone will get to know how "busy" I was today! OK, here goes: Woke up and lazed in bed for 30 minutes doing the usual - Me and God daily RUNZ. Had my bath and got dressed for work Hitched a ride with my sister to a certain point and continued on my own to the office Was very nice to everyone I saw this morning. * I am nice that way* :) Made a to-do list for the day and cancelled a meeting instantly, as I did not feel like going "out of the office" for the meeting (May God forgive me!) Got so busy (Reading all the posts on my reader) Got pissed off by a "friend" on bbm and wondered why we were friends in the first place. No be by force ooo! Worked very hard and juggled work between my 3 "Departments" Went for lunch with my friends and discussed marital issues and how some "men" change after marriage (Even though there was only one married person and the rest of us are single- we "singlets" had the mos...

How my day went

What a day! I don’t even know where to start from in my narration. Was it bad? Was it worse than bad? Or should I be grateful that through it all, I am alive, although hassled, but well? Maybe I should narrate how my day went to you… I woke up suddenly by 7:45am on a Monday morning. I bet the alarm went off in my head because; I checked my phone and saw that the screen was blank. I was surprised as I had plugged my phone to charge the battery just before I slept the night before. I looked up and realized that the socket hadn’t been turned on. I rushed out of bed in a hurry and stepped on my nephews upturned box of Legos. I yelped in pain and as I jumped on the good foot, I bumped into the wall. There was no need to yelp anymore, I just swallowed the pain and gingerly walked out of my room. I got into the bathroom, scrubbed myself and turned on the shower to rinse out to soap and leave the bathroom. Alas, the water had run out with soap all over my face. I blindly tried to grab my t...

OBALENDE...Sights, Sounds and Smells

Have you ever walked slowly through Obalende at any time before? Not hurried past because you did not want to be late for a meeting or program. Not driven past leisurely to while away time. But walked...? Obalende is a very interesting place. You see all sorts of things, hear all kinds of stuff and smell terrible things...even from people. You see them as you walk past in the morning. You see them in the afternoon, if you happen to pass the same way. You see them in the evening when you are returning. You see them at night...Obalende never sleeps! THE SIGHTS: The Dirty:  In the morning, you see the homeless, the destitute, the drug addicts. You can see the grime on their faces. Smell them from afar off. When they open their mouths to speak to you, you know exactly what a skunk that has released its gas smells like! You can tell from their clothes too that they have not had a bath....A bath??? puh-lease! how's that possible? Did you not read "the homeless" part? The St...
