Accountability and Discipline: The Cost of Doing It Right

 Hello, my people!

How una dey this fine day? January don reach week 6? Abi e still dey ok?
How far with the goal-getting? E sure? No loose guard oo. Stay on track! I believe in you 100%.

By the way, here's a free resource to help with planning your 2026, because planning ahead na better tin.

Let me be honest - "e no easy at all". This is not one of those motivational speeches. It’s just reality. Sometimes, it is far easier to do the bad things that add no value to your life than to stay disciplined and focused.

And that’s where boundaries come in.

Boundaries are like markers, they help you know when to turn back and stay within a safe zone. One simple way I do this is by setting tasks. Tasks keep me occupied, sure thing, but more importantly, they keep me accountable. When I know what I should be doing, I’m less likely to drift.

Speaking of accountability, that’s one thing I want us to practice intentionally this year:
Be accountable - to you!

Let your accountability to yourself reflect in:

  • How you spend your time

  • The goals you’re chasing

  • The feelings you’re entertaining (catch feelings small small)

  • And the version of yourself you’re building for 2026

I’ve spoken before about the importance of accountability partners - people (or even one person) who can check in on you, encourage you, and sometimes correct you (praying with you is a bonus, and a win). Life is not meant to be walked alone. But even before that, you must learn to answer to yourself.

Because here’s the truth: Doing the right thing consistently requires structure. Faith does not cancel discipline. Place a bet on yourself this year.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

And yet… sometimes, even when you’re doing everything right, things still feel hard. Sometimes, effort doesn’t immediately produce results. Sometimes, obedience feels unrewarded.

That’s where things get uncomfortable.

In the next post, I want to talk about something deeper- what happens when you are doing your best, staying accountable, walking uprightly… and God feels silent.

This question changes everything.
